Richard is the founder and owner of Empire Title Services. A native Floridian, Richard attended the University of Miami and Boston University before graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He continued his education at the University of Florida and graduated from its law school in 1981 with honors and as a member of the prestigious Law Review. To further his education, Richard returned to law school at the University of Miami and earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) Degree in Estate Planning in 1995.
Richard’s involvement in the community includes service as President of the North Dade Bar Association and President of The Forum of North Dade. He has also served as a Miami-Dade County Civil Traffic Infraction Hearing Officer since 1993.
Richard practices law and specializes in real estate transactions, general civil litigation, estate planning and probate. Richard’s extensive legal experience, which helps him prevent and resolve difficult legal issues, provides a great benefit to the customers of Empire Title Services.
Cynthia Cohen is Vice President of Empire Title Services. Cynthia was born in Caracas, Venezuela and worked with her family’s business from the age of 17. Cynthia came to Miami to manage the export side of her family’s business at the age of 21. She graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2002 and after college, she decided to leave her family business and joined Empire Title Services in 2003.
As a result of over ten years worth of experience handling real estate closings, Cynthia is ideally suited to understand the needs of every party to a real estate transaction, whether they be buyers, sellers, realtors or mortgage brokers. Her focus and commitment to providing 100% customer satisfaction has allowed Empire Title Services to grow and prosper in the often tumultuous South Florida real estate market.
Kimberlee De Biase
Kim is an attorney with Empire Title Services. She was born and raised in New England and graduated from the University of Rhode Island with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 2003. After college, Kim became a licensed real estate agent and sold residential real estate throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts where her performance earned her the title of “Rookie of the Year.” Kim decided to continue her education and followed her dream of becoming an attorney. She was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center and relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she currently resides with her husband, son, and two dogs.
During law school, Kim served as the Executive Director of Competitions for the Moot Court Society and clerked for a well-known real estate attorney. Kim obtained her Juris Doctor Degree, cum laude, in 2009 and is licensed to practice law in several states, including Florida. Kim has handled a variety of civil litigation matters ranging from consumer collections and contract disputes to personal injury and currently focuses her practice on real estate transactions. Kim is an active member of the Broward County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section.
Lana Ivanov’s knowledge of Russian language and understanding of Russian culture add an important capability to the Empire team. Lana is currently handling all transactions at our South Beach office and was admitted to the Florida Bar earlier this year. Lana graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature and obtained Juris Doctor from FIU College of Law, where she was on the Dean’s List and earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Securities Regulation.
Maricel Cruz is Empire’s Title Officer. Maricel speaks English and Spanish fluently. She is responsible for preparing Title Insurance Commitments, Title Insurance Policies, Deeds, Powers of Attorney, and other legal documents relating to real estate transactions. Before joining Empire Title Services, Maricel processed medical claims for the New York City Police Department while working for the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association. Outside of real estate law, Maricel devotes herself to her family.
Eileen Feliz is the head of our accounting department at Empire Title Services. Eileen was born in Santo Domingo and moved to Miami at a very early age. Eileen offers over ten years experience in office management and administrative support. Prior to joining Empire, Eileen worked as an Adjudicator with the State of Florida for six years. Her knowledge and expertise has contributed to Empire’s strict guidelines surrounding our escrow accounts and disbursement procedures. Eileen ensures an efficient and smooth process at the closing table, by crediting deposits, promptly disbursing funds, and recording documents in an efficient manner. Eileen is a team player and always willing to provide assistance when needed.
Vanessa Wilock is Empire’s Office Manager. Vanessa was born in Manhattan, New York and moved extensively throughout her childhood. She lived in Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua, and South Florida. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. Vanessa graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She was very involved in the universities extracurricular and charity programs as the office manager of the student government services office, Owl Productions. Vanessa was awarded the Broward Student Government Recognition Award, the Spirit of the Year Award, and a Certificate of Appreciation during her tenure. Vanessa possesses excellent interpersonal skills and communicating abilities with over 10 years of customer service, administrative, and managerial experience. As the Office Manager at Empire Title Services, Vanessa skillfully oversees the offices daily operations, interacts with all customers, assists members of Empire Title Services team and ensures the office runs smoothly.
